Visual Storytelling & Storyboard

Starts July 22

Learn how to use storyboard to make your stories engaging. Students are introduced to visual storytelling principles and planning in a storyboard and animatic format applicable to filmmaking and animation. You’ll learn basics of Adobe Animate Creative Cloud software (for Mac) and produce an original story for animation. Students will be encouraged to submit in advance their own short script (maximum of one page/one minute) to be produced in class. A story will be selected based on how relevant, representative, and doable it is within the framework of the workshop. The class will work as a production team to deliver a fully-produced animation piece by the end of the day. You’ll use the storyboard principles and techniques for future projects as a pre-production tool to anticipate and solve narrative problems, avoid misconception of ideas, save production time, and aim for the best possible visual storytelling. No prior animation/filmmaking experience required.

Tuition: $100 regular/$50 low-income
