Principles of Editing

Starts November 7

2 sessions: Saturday-Sunday, November 7-8, 9am-12pm

An editor’s role is crucial to the success of a story, and it’s important that all key players in the filmmaking process understand the principles and theory of editing. You’ll learn how to edit a compelling story through shot selection, continuity, pacing, structure, and working with sound. Activities include viewing and analyzing content, from theatrical releases to episodic television, as well as commercial and viral videos.

NOTE: Participation in FilmNorth online courses requires that you use the free Zoom cloud-based video conferencing service. For optimal performance it is highly recommended that you install Zoom on your computer rather than running it from a web browser. A few days prior to the class start date we’ll e-mail you the link and ID code needed to access this class on Zoom. Your instructor will be provided a student roster to take attendance. Click here for a tutorial on how to join a Zoom meeting and much more.

Tuition: $105 / $80 low-income
