Finding Your Story in Editing

Starts September 21

1 session: Saturday, September 21, 10am-5pm

Have you shot some/all footage for a film project but are hitting a roadblock in editing? Or do you just need some advice or feedback on some solid ideas you have? In this immersive lab-structured workshop, students explore the ways of creating/finding a story or storyline in their footage from a work-in-progress. You’ll have the opportunity to share your footage and then work with the instructor to determine the best way to tell a story with it.

We’ll begin by allowing time for each student to give a short presentation of their project footage, followed by group discussion and feedback. The next block of time is dedicated to hands-on editing with the instructor providing one-on-one guidance. The objective is for participants to leave with a rough cut of one or more scenes of their own material and a plan on how to proceed. Students should have basic knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro CC (for Mac). iMacs provided. Footage requirement: must be from a work-in-progress; footage recorded with smartphones or tablets is welcome. There is a lunch break.

Tuition: $175 regular/$130 member/$100 low-income
