Directors: How to Communicate with Actors

Starts July 27

1 session: Wednesday, July 27, 7–9:30 pm

Taught by professional actor Paul Cram, who has worked on hundreds of student films, as well as movie sets in Hollywood, Boston, Florida, and many other states, this workshop is designed for beginning to intermediate film directors. Learn from an actor’s perspective how to effectively communicate with actors in order to attract them to your projects and get the best performances. You’ll even get some tips on a few quick fixes for bad acting. It’s highly recommended that you’ve worked on a film set at least once and have a general knowledge of film industry lingo. Be prepared to assume the role of actor for some workshop exercises.

Tuition: $55 regular/$40 member/$30 low-income

Paul Cram head shot_cropPaul Cram travels coast-to-coast in the USA working on independent films (IMDB credits), commercials, and narrates audio books. He recently was nominated for Best Actor in the local Z Fest Film Festival for his performance in the short film To Myself. During his time away from film sets and recording booths he serves on the Inspire Arts board at HCMC hospital, volunteers with the Minnesota Literacy Council’s Buddy-Up-And-Read program, and can usually be found deep-frying cream cheese wontons in his older sister’s kitchen or debating pop culture with his little brother.
